Hydraulic Cylinders / Forklift Attachments
Compact Forklift Attachment Hydraulic Cylinder
Purpose-engineered for high-cycle forklift attachment operations across UK warehousing, logistics, and heavy industrial sites — combining precision hydraulics with a compact envelope that fits where standard cylinders simply cannot.
Product Overview
The hydraulic cylinder series covers a broad range of forklift attachment needs. The compact attachment cylinder described here shares its manufacturing platform with our wider forklift cylinder family. The compact attachment cylinder is available for direct procurement by UK plant managers, fleet maintenance buyers, and forklift OEM assembly lines. Custom bore sizing, port configurations, and mounting pin diameters can be specified at the ordering stage — no minimum volume requirement applies for standard configurations.
Technical Specifications

How It Works — Principle, Materials & Application Scenarios
Operating Principle
The cylinder operates on a single-acting or double-acting differential hydraulic principle, depending on the attachment control circuit. Pressurised fluid from the forklift’s auxiliary hydraulic circuit enters the port chamber, driving the piston rod against load resistance. Rod retraction is controlled either by return-spring action or by porting the rod-side chamber to tank. The compact bore-to-stroke ratio (Φ90 bore with a 265 mm stroke) allows extremely predictable force output per bar of supply pressure, making it straightforward for vehicle OEM engineers to integrate into existing valve-block specifications without re-calibration of the main load-sense circuit.
Materials & Sealing
The cylinder barrel is manufactured from cold-drawn seamless steel tube, honed internally to Ra 0.4 µm for optimal seal life. The piston rod is ground from 45# high-carbon steel, hard-chrome plated to a minimum 25 µm depth and polished to Ra 0.2 µm — a surface finish that is specifically chosen to minimise seal extrusion under pressure spikes. The piston itself is precision-machined from nodular cast iron. Dynamic sealing is achieved through a polyurethane U-cup and PTFE guide ring arrangement that tolerates lateral side-loads, a common failure mode in attachment cylinders where the geometry is not perfectly in-plane. Static ports are sealed with high-nitrile O-rings rated for continuous service in mineral-oil hydraulic fluids.
Application Scenarios
Forklift side-shifter cylinders in pallet-racking warehouses across the Midlands and South East England where cycle counts run into the thousands per shift. Rotator attachment actuation on recycling-sector grab trucks. Push-pull load-handler cylinders in cold-store distribution facilities where low-temperature fluid viscosity demands a cylinder with tighter internal clearances. Load-stabiliser boom extension on reach trucks used in narrow-aisle racking environments. Hydraulic clamp actuation on paper-roll handling attachments in UK print and packaging facilities.
Why Plant Engineers Specify This Cylinder
►
Compact Envelope
At 500 mm installed length and 26 kg, it fits into attachment brackets designed for the most space-constrained forklift frames without modification to the carrier frame.
►
High Pressure Margin
18 MPa working / 24 MPa withstand gives a 33% safety margin over operating conditions — important for attachments that see pressure spikes during abrupt valve actuation.
►
Long Seal Life
PU + PTFE seal stack with hard-chrome rod surface extends service intervals well beyond standard replacement schedules — reducing maintenance costs in high-cycle shift environments.
►
Direct OEM Compatibility
Port threading and pin-bore dimensions can be matched to Cascade, Bolzoni, Meijer, and other major attachment OEM specifications at order stage — no adapters required.
►
Cold-Store Ready
Internal clearances and seal compound are compatible with low-temperature hydraulic oils used in refrigerated distribution warehouses common across the UK food-logistics sector.
►
Fast UK Delivery Lead Times
Standard configurations held in forward stock for UK buyers. Custom-specification units manufactured to 3–5 week lead time with full dimensional inspection reports on request.

Case Study
Midlands 3PL Operator — Side-Shifter Fleet Rebuild
Third-party logistics, UK East Midlands, 2025
A third-party logistics provider operating 34 counterbalance forklifts across two facilities near Nottingham was experiencing recurring side-shifter cylinder leaks on a specific fleet model, with average replacement intervals of 11 months. After switching to the HCYY11112029 compact attachment hydraulic cylinder — matched to existing mounting pin and port specifications — the fleet maintenance team reported zero in-service leaks over a 14-month monitored period. The maintenance manager noted a direct reduction in unplanned downtime of approximately 3.2 hours per forklift per quarter, translating to measurable throughput gains during peak Q4 pallet-movement periods.

“We’ve been specifying these cylinders on our rotator attachment rebuild contracts for two years. The hard-chrome rod finish holds up far better than what we sourced locally. Lead time to our Birmingham depot was three weeks for a custom port arrangement.”
James H. — Hydraulic Attachments Engineer
Forklift attachment service company, West Midlands, UK
★★★★★
“Our cold-store facility runs at minus 22°C in the pick zones. Previous cylinders from two other suppliers would weep past the rod seal within six months. This cylinder has now passed the 18-month mark with no seal maintenance. The technical data sheet they provided was exactly what our engineers needed for sign-off.”
Sarah T. — Fleet Engineering Lead
Frozen food logistics operator, Yorkshire, UK
★★★★★
“We buy roughly 60 attachment cylinders a year across our dealer network. These give us the right balance of price, lead time, and technical documentation. The supplier responded to our dimensional query within the same day — that kind of responsiveness matters when a customer’s truck is grounded.”
David R. — Parts Procurement Manager
Forklift dealer group, South East England, UK
Manufacturing Capability & Custom Specification Service
Our manufacturing facility operates a dedicated hydraulic cylinder production line equipped with CNC honing machines, hard-chrome plating cells, and coordinate measuring equipment for 100% dimensional inspection of bore, rod, and port geometry. The production team holds ISO 9001 certification and has direct experience delivering against attachment OEM drawing packages from European and UK-based engineering teams.
Custom specification options available to UK buyers include: alternative bore diameters from Φ50 to Φ160, rod diameters from Φ30 to Φ100, stroke lengths from 100 mm to 1,200 mm, BSP or NPT port threading, clevis / flange / trunnion mounting configurations, and stainless-steel rod variants for wash-down environments. Prototype lead time is 15–20 working days from drawing approval, with volume production following an agreed schedule. A full dimensional report, pressure test certificate, and material traceability record ship with every order.
If your application involves mast tilting, you may want to review our forklift tilt cylinder, purpose-built for the demanding push-pull loads of mast operation at rated capacity. Alternatively, axle-mounted directional control on reach trucks and counterbalance forklifts is handled by our forklift steering cylinder, engineered to maintain precise steering response across the full range of vehicle speeds and load conditions.
Serving UK Industrial & Logistics Buyers

The UK forklift attachment market is dominated by a small number of well-established OEM brands, but fleet managers and maintenance engineers across England, Scotland, and Wales are under increasing pressure to reduce parts cost and extend replacement intervals without sacrificing reliability. This compact forklift attachment hydraulic cylinder is designed to be a direct technical and dimensional replacement for cylinders from major attachment manufacturers — but with shorter lead times and a more competitive unit cost for buyers purchasing in annual contract volumes.
